Hubby probably does at least half of the cooking or more in our house.  He’s just so good at it!  I can cook with a recipe, but Hubby will put together something similar to what he’s seen on tv and it will taste great.  He can taste it and determine what spices to add.  Me?  I’ll stick to recipes.  I actually enjoy cooking, but I don’t like to do the dishes.  Usually if I cook, Hubby cleans up.

For one of my family bridal showers, I had Pampered Chef come in.  I fixed Grilled Chicken Penne al Fresco.  Sounds fancy, but  not really.  By cooking at the shower people were able to see the functionality of different utensils.

So this is the scene at the Spouting’s household last night making Grilled Chicken Penne al Fresco.

Ingredients:

4 garlic cloves, peeled
2 cups grape or cherry tomatoes
3 cups uncooked penne pasta
3 cups chicken broth
3/4 cup dry white wine such as Chardonnay

I boiled my chicken, but you can grill it in a pan, bake it, etc.  While my chicken was boiling I minced garlic and put it in my lovely Pampered Chef Deep Covered Baker.

Add grape or cherry tomatoes:

Cover and cook in microwave (that’s right!  my best friend microwave!) for 4-5 minutes.  The tomatoes will pop and begin to burst.  It was scary the first time I heard the tomatoes popping because all I could think of was having to clean out my microwave.  Not the case.  The Deep Dish Cooker seals with no mess!

While my tomatoes are popping away in the microwave I shred or cut the cooled chicken.

This plate is also from Pampered Chef.  I received all Pampered Chef at my bridal shower and I love it all!  Remove baker from microwave with pot holders.  Crush tomatoes with da choppa.  Did that sound like Arnold?  Well, it was supposed to!

I use “da choppa” for breaking up hamburger meat for chilli, spaghetti, lasagna and sloppy joes.

Add pasta broth, wine, salt and black pepper.  The recipe calls for fresh basil, but I priced it at the grocery and it was $3.49.  I just added basil from my spice rack.   Also, the recipe says to add chicken after cooking, but I add it before cooking.

The directions say to cook on high for 16-18 minutes.  I cooked it last night for 18 minutes and then had to put it in for another 5 minutes.

The final step is to plate and grate parmesan cheese onto the pasta.  I also grind in some pepper and salt.

That’s my Pampered Chef cheese grater!  I love it because the blade comes out for easy clean up.

Dinner is served.

Yes, that is a Pampered Chef bowl!  My other favorite thing about this dish is the easy clean up.  I washed the few dishes I used while the pasta was cooking.

After we ate, we threw put the bowls and forks into the dishwasher.  So this is how we roll at the Spouting’s household.  What’s your favorite Pampered Chef meal?
